If anyone could offer any help or advice I would be really grateful. It also says that "If you are having issues with an n router, verify with your router manufacturer that the current mode setting is compatible with g devices, as this setting varies depending on the router brand/model".

According to the instruction manual it is "compatible with IEEE 802.11 b/g/n routers that are Wi-Fi certified". The printer itself contains a wireless IEEE 802.11g print server. I use a static IP.Īs this is exactly the same problem that I faced with the other (now exchanged) printer, I am sure its something to do with the wireless connection set up. I am using a G4 ibook, 10.5.6 and I have an airport full-bars connection to the O2 Wireless Box II. It does not find my wireless connection if the USB cable is unplugged. This all happens when the computer is still connected via USB to the printer (as per the instructions). I then have the option to select either "Verify or change wireless network settings - I want to check or modify the wireless settings before reconnecting" or the other option is "Do not use a wireless connection - I want to use the USB cable to connect my printer to this computer". Your printer could not connect to your wireless network". This status box eventually disappears and the following box appears: "Connection Failed.
When it asks for my "password" I put in my SSID and click "CONTINUE" at which point a status box appears saying "Configuring your printer." for a short while (approx 1 minute). Interestingly, my O2 broadband security information mentions a "WEP (64bit)" - which there is not an option for - this may or may not be an issue. The only selectable options (from a drop down menu) under "Wireless Security" are "WEP 40/128-bit HEX" or "WEP 40/128-bit ASCII". At this point the set up utility finds my wireless connection and asks for my Network Security Information.
When I run the set up for the Lexmark wireless printer everything is perfectly fine until the printer wants to connect to the wireless connection. I am starting to think this may be something do to with the net connection / O2 wireless box II set up, however.

If I use the Vista 'add printer' option I reach the point where vista says 'installing printer' but always ends saying 'the printer installation failed. If I type the IP address into my browser I can access the printer and see all details, including things like ink levels. I have configured Comodo to see the printer IP address as safe. The laptop is a bit old, 1.6 processor, 1gb mem, Vista home premium, AVG free, Comodo free firewall. I've done this 3 times but always get the same message. When I use the Lexmark menu via start/ I cannot access the "Network Configuration" utility - it says "printer files missing, please uninstall and reinstall". On the problem laptop the installer works apparently fine but the laptop won't 'see' the printer. I have successfully installed the printer on another laptop with no problems so the printer is set up and can see my home network from there.

I have a new Lexmark X4650 wireless all in one printer but cannot install it properly on my Vista Home Premium Acer Laptop. Hi, 1st post so I hope it's in the right place.
